"Pathfinder" Campaign

A Gift for All Occasions….

Whether Christmas, birthdays, anniversaries, births or even as a memorial to an ancestor…what better way to honor the individual than with a commemorative engraved brick placed permanently in the walkway leading to the front door of the Old Anderson House Museum?

The Historical Society’s new “Pathfinder” project allows members and friends to mark significant occasions with a lasting remembrance and, at the same time, help the Society in its mission of preserving the past and building for the future.

“Since the museum opened in 1997, we have been extremely fortunate in the generous support provided through donations of artifacts and historic buildings,” said Fred Mann who is chairing the fund-raising effort.

“But that expansion has also increased our needs,” Fred added. “People have trusted us with their treasures, and we have an obligation to preserve them and make them accessible to our members and the general public.”

There is a growing need for adequate funding for:
  • Restoration and furnishing of the Liberty Park Birch Cottage to serve as an example of what once was a major industry in Sister Bay.
  • Completing work on Balsam Cottage so that it can be utilized as multi-use space for office, preservation work and cataloging by Society volunteers.
  • Enough working capital to prepare for our eventual acquisition and restoration of the historic Sister Bay School.
  • The long-range possibility of constructing a weather-protected space for large pieces of vintage farm equipment given to the Museum.

“We’re stretching our regular operating budget as far as we can in meeting our basic, day-to-day needs, so a special fund-raising effort - even in today’s tough economic conditions - seemed like a timely idea,” Fred commented.

So, when you’re looking for a unique gift idea or finding an occasion to honor an individual who contributed in any way to the history of Sister Bay, simply click here for the order form. We hope you will join us in preserving the heritage of our community.
