Alex and Emma Anderson raised two children, Sceone and Ivan, in this three-bedroom home. The other rooms consisted of a large farm-house kitchen, pantry, family room, a formal parlor, and a courting room. Some speculate that the house may have been hauled on two barges due to the size of the home. Two bedrooms and an attic are on the second floor, and one bedroom is just off the kitchen.
THE OLD ANDERSON HOUSE MUSEUM
Built in 1875 in Marinette, Wisconsin, the fancy farm house with architectural features unlike any other Sister Bay farm house, was brought to this site in 1895. The home came by a horse-drawn barge over the frozen waters of Green Bay. It was a time when the lumbering industry in Door County had cleared hundreds of acres of hard woods, making building supplies hard to come by.
